Viv Forbes, Australia, posts at "Carbon Sense": The climate alarm media, the bureaucracy and the Green Energy industry follow an agenda which is served by inflating any short-term weather event into a climate calamity. They should take a long-term view. Earth’s climate is never still – it is always...

In a major paper explaining the science of climate, Professor Will Happer writes:" The Earth is in no danger from increasing levels of CO2. More CO2 will be a major benefit to the biosphere and to humanity.". Acknlowedged to be one of the world's leading scientific authorities on climate behaviour,...

The climate change debate might be one of the worst cases of academic suppression in history. CLINTEL (the Climate Intelligence Foundation) has issued the Magna Carta Universitatum 2020. This short document is basically an aspirational code of conduct for freedom of inquiry and speech at universities. The first Magna Carta Universitatum was issued in 1988 and to date at least 889 universities have signed on to it. CLINTEL notes that it is building directly on this precedent, to fit “the special challenges of today”. For each of the five principles enunciated, CLINTEL cites a climate example.

Two days ago, the New Zealand Herald published an op-ed by Professor Emeritus Geoff Duffy, of University of Auckland, NZ, rebutting claims about emissions of methane by livestock contained in a report to our Parliament by the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment. Today in the Herald is a letter to the editor from one Paul Judge, of Hamilton, calling Prof Duffy a "climate denier", and challenging Geoff's statements about absence of warming. Read below, Geoff's article, and look at graphs that weren't in the Herald article. Then decide for yourself: who is the real denier?

Viscount Monckton of Brenchley has sent a strongly-worded message to the Pope and the Archbishop of Canterbury: "In this message for the New Year, I invite both of you to make a new resolution: 'I will no longer curry favour with the global governing elite by spouting fashionably fatuous, scientifically spurious, preposterously pietistic platitudes about the imagined – and imaginary – threat of global warming. Instead I will do what the Lord of Life did. I will speak up for the 1.2 billion people worldwide who are poor, and who will be condemned to remain poor because they are denied access to electrical power. I will demand that coal-fired power stations be built at once, for coal is plentiful and provides the cheapest and most reliable energy supply.'

“Global mean temperatures before 1980 are based on untrustworthy data,” writes Dr Mototaka Nakamura of MIT: “Before full planet surface observation by satellite began in 1980, only a small part of the Earth had been observed for temperatures with only a certain amount of accuracy and frequency. Across the globe, only North America and Western Europe have trustworthy temperature data dating back to the 19th century.”

Ralph B Alexander posts at the UK Global Warming Policy Foundation: "This report discusses the lack of scientific evidence for the popular but mistaken belief that global warming causes weather extremes – a notion hyped by the mainstream media and believers in the narrative of human-caused climate change. If there is any trend at all in extreme weather, it’s downward rather than upward. Our most extreme weather, be it heat wave, drought, flood, hurricane or tornado, occurred many years ago, long before the carbon dioxide level in the atmosphere began to climb at its present rate."

CLIMATE HYSTERIA DAMAGING CHILDREN

February 15, 2021, 10:52 pm

Tyler Durden posts at ZeroHedge: "Climate activist Greta Thunberg’s recent speech to the United Nations seemed to reveal a deeply troubled individual. She said her childhood was taken away from her by the looming threat of climate change, and she blamed world leaders for letting it happen. She has every reason to be upset, but she is directing her anger at the wrong people. The real culprit is the green catastrophe industry that manufactures crises out of nothing".

Dr Jay Lehr and Tom Harris write at Heartland.org: "Claims of unprecedented carbon-dioxide levels ignore most of Earth’s 4.6-billion-year history. Relative to Earth’s entire record, carbon-dioxide levels are at historically low levels; they only appear high when compared to the dangerously low levels of carbon dioxide that occurred in Earth’s very recent history."

U.S. logician, Dr David Wojick, posts at WUWT: "As a logician, I am always on the lookout for fallacies and there is no lack of them in climate change alarmist policies. New Zealand’s newly released climate risk assessment not only has multiple fallacies, they build on one another in a cascade."

A recent Netflix ‘Our Planet’ program with David Attenborough delivering a disturbing message of doom about walruses falling off a cliff to their deaths because of climate change is contrived nonsense on par with the bogus National Geographic starving polar bear video of 2017. The walruses shown in this Netflix film were almost certainly driven over the cliff by polar bears during a well-publicized incident in 2017, not because they were “confused by a combination of shrinking ice cover and their own poor eyesight“.

S.Fred Singer, founder of the U.S. Weather Service, writes: "While most people still worry about global warming, I am more concerned about the next Ice Age. A glaciation would present a serious problem for survival of our present civilization, akin to a nuclear winter that many worried about 30 years ago. Nuclear winter is all fantasy, of course; but ice ages are for real." (To access click on Newsroom, then click on Commentary Articles in scroll down list)

U.S. commentator, H. Sterling Burnett posts at WattsUpWith That: "As respect for journalists and their trustworthiness declines, mainstream media outlets, both print and television, are losing readers, subscribers, and viewers. By any measure, journalists aren’t trusted. In public opinion polls, the only professions consistently falling below journalists on their trustworthiness or ethical standards are politicians and used-car salespeople. This doesn’t surprise me. For more than 20 years I’ve watched supposedly respected media outlets, with investigative journalists on staff, fail to accurately portray the debate surrounding claims human fossil fuel use is causing catastrophic climate change."

Our earlier posting of links to Dr John McLean's exposure of errors in the HadCrut temperature data relied on by the IPCC for its (mostly misleading) predictions, reminded us of the 2009 paper by Joseph D'Aleo and Anthony Watts that analysed the siting of temperature recording stations. That paper is worth reading again in 2018 as IPCC makes more scary predictions, continuing its line of alarmist forecasts which have still not come to pass.

'HAS UNITED NATIONS MISLED THE WORLD ABOUT CLIMATE?'

Dr John McLean, prominent Australian climate analyst, and former expert reviewer of early IPCC reports, writes: “Climate activists would have us believe that man-made warming is a fact and it’s serious. After reading the various documentation of meetings leading up to the creation of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and then from the IPCC itself, I conclude that it’s all been vastly exaggerated. There is no certainty that there’s any man-made warming (or man-made climate change) worth worrying about".

Britain’s plans to decarbonise the economy have not been properly thought through, and there is a dangerous lack of systems and project engineering input. That’s according to Michael Kelly, emeritus professor of technology in the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge, who says that replacing fossil fuels with electricity from renewables is impractical on the timescale of 2050.“It’s clear that there has been little or no systems engineering input into the plans. How can we possibly proceed further along the renewables path when we lack any technology to store electricity at scale? How can we hope to electrify transport when we would need to consume the whole global annual supply of several important minerals to do so, just for the UK?” And Professor Kelly warns that the costs of decarbonising will be ruinous of our current standards of living.
